First Annual Day of Events!

This Sunday is some of my friends and I, First Annual Day of Events!  It should be a pretty good time.  I believe some of the activites will include, golf, frisbee, tennis, and some football.  I know it’s going to be just for fun, but I have a feeling there is going to be a undertone of competition.  I just dont’ think  it would be possible to get us all together without someone trying to come out on top.  I am definetly looking forward to this weekend!

Basketball!

With the NBA Playoffs going on, some friends and I have been playing a lot of basketball lately.  We played for about two hours today and it was exhausting.   It makes it much easier for me to get in cardio doing things like playing basketball and tennis, even though my skills in both are almost nonexistent.

Things to Consider Before You Purchase any Fitness Equipment

Purchasing your own fitness equipment can be a big money saver, especially when it comes to purchasing an expensive gym membership that most people never use. When your equipment is inside of your home, it is right there. There are no long drives to the gym, and no one else to deal with during your workouts. Exercising can be a very rejuvenating and peaceful activity, especially when it is done in the comfort of your own home. If you do not already own exercise equipment, then there are some things that you need to think about before even purchasing your first piece.

1. What type of equipment do you need? Think about what your fitness goals are. What effects are you trying to achieve? It is recommended that you find something that will work your entire body in any fitness regimen. For example, someone who is wanting to achieve great abs cannot do that with an ab machine alone. There has to be cardio and other weight lifting exercises involved that use the stability of your body (free weights) for the best results. Who wants to have muscular legs and nothing else? Be realistic.

2. Can you afford the equipment that you are looking at? Okay, there is very expensive equipment, and then there is affordable equipment. You can find gym equipment in tons of places. If there is a local gym that you know that is remodeling and updating their equipment, you might want to ask them what they plan to do with some of their old fitness equipment. You never know, you might luck up and get something for free. Another great way to find affordable fitness machines is to shop around at thrift stores for what you have in mind. But if you are wanting something brand new, then shopping online for the best prices and widest selection without have to go from store to store will be your best option.

3. Do you have enough room for what you want? Some people may need to create an entire area dedicated to their home gym. A lot of folks use a spare bedroom or their patios for their gym areas. All of that fitness equipment has to fit somewhere.

4. Do the fitness machines that you are looking at come with a warranty? This will usually apply only if they are brand new, but it is important that they do just in case something were to happen. Especially if you are spending a pretty penny on fitness equipment that has been ordered online. You can’t see it until it arrives at your home, and when it does, is it all that you hoped it would be?

These are just a few of the many things that you need to consider before investing any money into fitness machines. Choosing to purchase fitness equipment is smart, but it can be tough, especially with all of the options. You want to make sure that what you are getting is going to work. We often worry that we didn’t make the best decision after making a big purchase, but with the right amount of investigation and research, you can be certain that the decision made was a very good one indeed.

Online Fitness Training

The Pros and Cons of Online Fitness Training

When the internet first started to become popular, most people were pleased to discover its ability to present multitudes of information on virtually any subject under the sun. One area that has been popular on the internet has been health and fitness. Today, there are many websites and communities that effectively promote online training and fitness education. To say these sites are popular would be a dramatic understatement!

But, are these online fitness sites helpful? Can someone truly meet weight loss goals through an online resource? The answer to this is a resounding yes! Really, any reliable source of information, instruction, supervision, and goal management can help a person get in shape. The internet provides an excellent forum for this and that is what such online communities are helpful.

Of course, it is important to understand that there are pros and cons associated with online fitness strength training. Thankfully, the pros significantly outweigh the cons and that is why these sites are so popular. So, let’s take a look at some of these positive aspects and weigh them against the minor cons.

Without a doubt, the most beneficial aspect of these sites is they provide a clear alternative to personal training at a gym. While it is certainly beneficial to have access to a personal trainer, such sessions clearly come with costs. Online fitness training resources are significantly less expensive which makes them more accessible.

Also, when you sign up with an online fitness community, you will have access to a very flexible service. In other words, if you can only work out at 4am, you can do so with an online resource since it is not restricted by any specific times of the day.

The customer service component of training is also quite helpful. That is, when you communicate with your online fitness training professionals over email or instant messaging, you can be sure you will receive solid advice and training tips. A personal program can be devised specifically for you and it will be tailored to your personal goals and needs. This will raise the odds of success significantly since the online fitness strength training resource is more than just a prose or text conduit of information. It is an interactive forum designed to help you achieve your goals.

In terms of the cons, while the flexibility to work with a trainer through a long distance session is helpful, the value of dealing with someone in person is always better. Again, some may not be able to afford such an approach and online fitness strength training programs are a reliable alternative, but they cannot guarantee success in the way one-on-one in person coaching can.

And, sadly, there are a few online fitness programs out there that are gimmick oriented. They may seek to make people feel good but they do not really approach the serious side of losing weight and getting in shape. Such venues are best avoided since they will not allow you to achieve your primary weight loss goals.

Overall, most online fitness programs are well structured and worth the time and money investment. After all, if they did not work they would not be popular.
